Cut and Paste 2009 :: Tokyo

Looking for something different to do this Saturday? Get down to WOMB for the graphic designers’ version of a steel-cage death match. Cut and Paste pits 2D, 3D and motion graphic artists against each other on the big screens. Event runs 17:00-20:30. Tickets Y2000. Check out the video below for a look at what it is all about.

JANE Z’s first ever Japan performance

With SET Japan responsible for stage, lighting and filming, it was a busy night for our crew. But all went hiccup free. Jane’s performance was very solid, she seems to combine all the elements of a big star, great voice, charisma, comfortable on stage, confident etc  with a very tangible human quality about her, which can only be a plus. We wish her luck. 

Capricine Lingerie Show

Had the chance to take a few snaps at Capricine Lingerie Show for buyers only, at a small place in Nishi Azabu, I think the show went down well, and there seemed to be a lot of interest afterwards, congrats to Rinko the designer.

Pecha Kucha

While in Australia last month I was fortunate enough to be invited to speak at the Brisbane chapter of Tokyo’s own Pecha Kucha. Held at one of the country’s finest venues, the Powerhouse, a crowd of about 300 gathered to hear me give a very speedy run through my take on the current creative climate in Tokyo and a little on what SET does. Big thanks to the organizers for letting me jump in at the last minute and my fan club in the front row. Very impressed with the standard of presentations and the talented people I met afterwards.

Metropolis’ Valentine Glitterball

Metropolis Magazine put on their Valentine Glitterball this February, funnily enough…. look out for more free drink revelry at this years next major celebratory occasions !!

The musical ante was given a bolster with the likes of Aosawa, Alex Einz, Groovepatrol and Aaron Tseng, but a light hearted alcohol fuelled night with giveaway’s and prizes, and free nuts from American Airlines !! Winner !!  http://www.metropolis.co.jp/

Last Friday night we toasted the launch of SET’s new website, lovingly crafted by the talented trio at Fusionbureau . Luckily the new office is being gutted and carefully put back together so the flying champagne corks couldn’t do much damage. Link us if you love us!
